Naeem Sayyed, known by his stage name Junior Mehmood, a legendary Indian actor, singer, and Marathi film director, has passed away at the age of 67. He breathed his last on December 8, 2023, at his residence in Khar, Mumbai, after a prolonged battle with stomach cancer. Junior Mehmood, born on November 15, 1956, in Bombay, had a remarkable career in the Indian film industry.

Junior Mehmood, who started his career as a child artist, appeared in 265 films in seven different languages and also produced and directed six Marathi films. He was given the screen name Junior Mehmood by the renowned Indian film director Mehmood Ali, with whom he shared the screen in several movies.



His passing has deeply saddened the film fraternity, and many celebrities, including Jeetendra, Sachin Pilgaonkar, and Johnny Lever, visited him during his illness and expressed their support. The funeral took place at the Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz, where he was laid to rest beside his mother.



Junior Mehmood’s contributions to Indian cinema will always be remembered, and he leaves behind a legacy that has left an indelible mark on the industry. May his soul rest in peace.
